About Farida AbushadyI’m a self-taught artist drawn to surrealism and abstraction, working with bold colour, symbolism, and layered imagery to tell emotional stories. Florals and elements of nature often weave through my work, reflecting cycles of growth, connection, and transformation.
My practice is deeply intuitive. Each piece begins with something personal — a moment, a feeling, a quiet question — and unfolds into visual narratives designed to invite reflection and spark conversation. Themes of identity, tenderness, resilience, and change run throughout my work, shaped profoundly by the experience of motherhood, which has become a powerful influence on both my life and creative voice. Before fully stepping into my own artistic practice, I worked in hospitality, commissioning artists on large-scale projects for a five-star hotel in Dubai. That experience continues to inform how I curate, collaborate, and create thoughtful, immersive artistic experiences today. Alongside my studio practice, I host private, curated art workshops, including Sip & Paint evenings and art-led therapeutic experiences for both adults and children. At the heart of everything I do is a belief that art belongs in everyday life — as a source of creativity, connection, and a deeper understanding of our inner world. |
My latest work featured in Coya at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dubai, a Peruvian chain that originated in Mayfair, as well as Total Arts Gallery at The Courtyard UAE. My recent solo exhibitions, Mother Nature and The Sacred Womb, explore themes of womanhood, transformation, and the journey into motherhood, honoring women across diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.

COMMISSIONED PROJECTCelebrating a decade of Coya since the opening of it's first branch in Mayfair, the Peruvian restaurant & bar collaborated with 10 global artists to create custom Pisco Jar designs to be displayed as part of the brand's permanent collection. Farida's collection was inspired by the pieces she had exhibited in her showcase at the members lounge. Each Pisco jar felt like a unique representation of fertility and femininity inspired by the respective paintings she was exhibiting at Coya's members lounge.
